Hi! I’m Lucy.
Chardonnay and vintage finds lover, founder of the handmade jewelry brand bel monili *and* your new guide to making your handmade business WORK online.
February seems to be having an identity crisis around here. Some days we’re enjoying 60 degree weather, other days we’re shoveling ourselves out from inches of icy snow. While we are anxiously awaiting the end of winter and the beginning of a prosperous spring season, Joanne Hawker’s March Meet the Maker challenge is here!
Her challenge is a great way to connect you with your audience and with your fellow makers.
March Meet the Maker is a 31 day Instagram challenge that was started by artist Joanne Hawker in 2016. Since then, this challenge has become a bit of a hallmark in the maker’s movement. Thousands of makers around the world are now participating.
The concept is simple: each day there is a different posting prompt. You post on that day using the hashtag #MarchMeetTheMaker.
The prompts excellent for pushing you to share your story. Also, you are also creating a bank of valuable content. You can then use that content to repurpose and share all year long.
I have found that pre-writing/planning my #MarchMeetTheMaker posts (and pre-scheduling if you’re REALLY on top of things) makes it so much easier to participate. Plus, it frees up time for you to search the hashtag and follow along with other makers’ posts.
Visit the March Meet The Maker website, where you’ll find all of the details about the challenge (as well as a free downloadable planner), and get ready to introduce yourself and your craft to the world!
If you’re participating in this year’s Meet the Maker event, let us know in my Free Facebook group. The Bloom Facebook group is exclusively for makers who are in business, just like you. Click here to join us!
After running bel monili (my handmade jewelry business) for 10 years, I launched Bloom in 2019 to create a community where handmade business owners could learn, grow, and support each other in this wild venture of small business ownership. Welcome to Bloom!
